The Black Student Union at the University of Central Florida will be presenting their 2nd Annual "Knuck If You Buck Stroll Off" on Sunday, October 8th at 7pm. You can me hosting alongside the beautiful Sydne Taylor of Uncensored407 as well as a special performance from the WTFuture GVNG. This night is looking like one for the books! Meet us there.
Do you love ice cream? Do you remember hearing the truck coming around the corner playing that lovely jingle? I have some disturbing, yet humorous news about that song. What if I told you that the jingle was originally an overtly racist song called "Nigger Love A Watermelon Ha! Ha! Ha!" ? I know I know, it sounds wild, but it's true. The song was written back in 1916 (when Amerikkka was great says Trump) and released by Columbia Records.
Filled with racial slurs and plain incorrect depictions of black Americans, this song has become a staple of childhood happiness over the years. In the midst of the kneeling protests and the confusion over whether the protests are about the racist star spangled banner song or police reform, I figured it would be good for you all to hear yet another example of the overt racism that existed and still exists. I think it's funny more than anything. Check it out!
Much love and appreciation to the fam over at Creative Misfits for the CVNCER EP review. I'd say their analysis was pretty spot on from the flow of the tracks to their meanings to pointing out punchlines. If you want to understand my music a little better, this would be a great place to look. Enjoy!
The homie LB199X is back with another jam. Bro is preaching only real spill in a lyrically gifted verse and crooning on the hook over a hypnotizing choppy beat. The track is also complimented with a feature from G-Elz (who I'm not familiar with at the moment, but worth checking out for sure). Definitely dropping this gem on my #PLVYLIST. Good looks brody!
Fresh off of VH1's Signed, Cell is here with a new body of work called Carpe Noctem. Congratulations to the boy being signed by Radio Killa, RocNation, and his own imprint E.L.I.T.E. Gotta celebrate another example of hard work paying off. Enjoy the vibes!
"Meaning to seize the night. Some of us take it for granted. The night symbolizes truth, a moment in time when you can be whatever you want. It symbolizes fear to some or security to others. Seize the night, keep faith, and prosper"
My brudda Crando back with a loosey fresh off Hurricane Harvey & Hurricane Irma. The track features Marlon Yul and I can't help but vibe when these two get together. Issa vibe. Enjoy!
Still haven't heard the full album, but this has been my favorite track since it dropped. Visuals are always a nice touch. Enjoy!
XXX is a very controversial figure in Hip-Hop in 2017 from arrests and accusations to calling out the top dog in the game at the time, Drake, to being involved in multiple stage fights. All the while, I still see the guy putting effort towards relaying a message to his fellow youth rather it be in his strange XXL Freshman freestyle or in his new video for his breakout hit "Look at Me!".
This video features multiple hangings depicting factual events of American History as well as a controversy tugging depicting a white child being hung. I can see the message behind this, can you? Check it out and tell me what you think.
As Hurricane Irma approaches, I wanted to drop tips for preparation as I come across them. Many of us no longer have landlines to be able to call out during a power outage and our cell phones will more than likely die if we are not prepared with ways to charge them. Communication in any disaster is almost primary. Below is a video showing how to charge your phone with a 9volt battery and a car charger. Enjoy!
WTFuture's curly queen is here with her long anticipated EP, Remedy. I've watched this young woman work on this project, rework it, change songs, create more, etc for over a year and I'm proud to see her finally let the word in on her creation. I know you all will enjoy the vibes produced and written by Ayaana Nash.
